HOLLISTER, CA — Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing a suspect involved in multiple violent incidents Wednesday evening across Hollister and surrounding areas, authorities reported. The chaotic series of events included shootings, a fatality, and several vehicle thefts, prompting a large-scale response from local and regional law enforcement.
According to officials, the suspect fired at law enforcement officers, killed one individual, and carjacked vehicles while fleeing. The Hollister Police Department, San Jose Police Department, and California Highway Patrol (CHP) are all actively engaged in the pursuit, coordinating to locate and apprehend the armed individual.
During the pursuit, officers deployed over two dozen police vehicles and multiple helicopters to track the suspect, who reportedly abandoned a green sports car, jumped over fences, and later carjacked a white Honda Civic while continuing to evade police. Authorities also confirmed that earlier in the evening, the suspect had stolen a Corvette from a Chevrolet dealership in San Jose, suggesting a pattern of brazen, high-risk behavior.
Officials say the suspect fired multiple shots at officers during the pursuit, highlighting the dangerous and unpredictable nature of the situation. At one point, the chase moved onto northbound U.S. 101 from Highway 25, with authorities warning that the suspect remains armed and extremely dangerous. Residents and motorists in the area are being urged to avoid the highway and nearby neighborhoods until the threat is contained.
No law enforcement personnel have been reported seriously injured in the incidents so far, and authorities have not released the identity of the suspect. Investigators are actively gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
